PROFESOR-INVESTIGADOR EN LA UNIVERSIDAD AUTÓNOMA DE NUEVO LEÓN, FACULTAD DE ECONOMÍA
My research lies at the intersection of development economics and applied political economy. I study how institutions — particularly property rights, insecurity, and state capacity — shape economic behavior, social mobility, and market functioning in developing economies.
My work combines microdata and causal inference methods to examine how households and local communities respond to imperfect institutional environments, drawing primarily on evidence from Mexico and Southeast Asia.
I hold a PhD in Economics from Trinity College Dublin, an MA in Economics and Public Policy from the Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a BA in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.
I am currently a Research Professor and a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI, Candidate Level).
